Play Spotter relies on content submitted by its users — place listings, edits, and photos. If you believe something on Play Spotter infringes your copyright, this page explains how to report it.

These are the details on file with the Copyright Office. Publishing them here is not a courtesy — 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(2) requires the designated agent's details to be both filed with the Copyright Office and made available to the public on the service, and a notice sent to an address that disagrees with the register does not reach the designated agent.

Filing a takedown notice

To be effective under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), your notice must include:

• A description of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed
• A description of the material you claim is infringing and its location in the app (a link, place name, or screenshot)
• Your contact information: name, address, phone number, and email
• A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law
• A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on their behalf
• Your physical or electronic signature

We review valid notices and remove or disable access to the reported material.

Please be accurate. Knowingly misrepresenting that material is infringing can make you liable for damages, including costs and legal fees, under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f).

Counter-notification

If content you submitted was removed in response to a notice and you believe it was removed in error, you may submit a counter-notice to the same agent. We'll forward it to the original claimant. Absent a court action from the claimant, we will typically restore the content after 10–14 business days.

We do not decide who owns a photograph. This process exists so that the dispute goes back to the two parties who can settle it.

Repeat infringers

Accounts with a pattern of infringing uploads are terminated. This isn't only a case-by-case judgment call — an account accumulates a strike each time we take down a photo in response to a valid claim, and repeated strikes result in the account being blocked from further submissions.

Reporting a specific photo

You can flag a problem with any place's photos using the "Report an issue" option on that place's page, in the app or on the website — describe which photo and why. Reports reach our moderation team directly. You do not need to file a formal DMCA notice to use it, and doing so does not affect your right to send one.
